In our testing, AirPlay 2 became available immediately after updating the firmware. The practical upshot of this firmware update is that if you have a collection of AirPort Express base stations, you can now use them to create a cheap whole-house audio solution. The main benefit of AirPlay 2 is that it enables you to stream audio to multiple destinations-like an Apple TV or HomePod-from iOS (iTunes has provided this capability for years). Apples tutorial's don't seem too clear when using the Airport Utility App. But I cannot get it to appear as an airplay icon on any Ithing and when I disconnect the ethernet it dissapears from the Airport Utility program. I set it to join network (as opposed to create network or extend) and after a while I have green lights everywhere. I then get the 'Other base station' button appearing so it see's it. The trouble I have is when I stick the pin into the reset hole the AEx is not appearing within the Airport utility app. AIRPORT UTILITY NOT SHOWING BASE STATION MAC OS XWe have both recently moved over from PC's to Mac's so I tried to configure his Aex from scratch using the airport utility from within Mac OS X (version 6.2 of Airport utility I believe) and 10.8.3 Mac OS X.
